The Beauty Spot: the office beauty essentials

office-beauty-essentials

Whether you do your make-up or skincare routine before work, on the commute or when you get in, we’ve got the list of the office beauty essentials you all need to keep to hand on your desks

Moisturiser

Everyone should have some moisturiser readily available throughout the day. Whether it’s the weather outside or the office air-con/heating, our skin dries out throughout the day, so you’ll want to apply some moisturiser whenever possible to keep your skin happy.

Hand cream

Many people forget just how much their hands go through every day, so it’s vital that you have some hand cream at your desk and apply it at least twice a day, to prevent your hands from getting too dry.

SPF lotion

If your preferred moisturiser doesn’t contain any SPF then you’ll want a small bottle of sun lotion at your desk for whenever you might be heading outside. Don’t be tricked into thinking you’re safe without it when the sun isn’t out! UVA rays still penetrate clouds, so you should be wearing SPF all year round.

Lip balm

As winter comes round, so does the dreaded chapped lips. Make sure your lips stay hydrated all year long by picking up some lip balm and keeping it at your desk. If you want to add a bit of colour to your lips you can opt for a rose-hued one.

Foundation

If you want a good coverage at work, be sure to have your foundation to hand. Whether you keep one at work or in your handbag, it’s a must if you want something a little extra during the work day. Just be sure to apply some moisturiser first so your skin has a good base, meaning the BB cream should apply more smoothly.

Concealer

If you don’t want a full face of make-up, but you’re still looking for light coverage, we suggest keeping a concealer at work. If you’re primary concern is under-eye circles, opt for a shade lighter than your normal hue as this helps to brighten the area. If you want to even skin tone or cover any blemishes, go for your normal shade for the best coverage. For perfect application, we’re partial to using a beauty blender as it doesn’t take as much product as a brush does and gives a smoother finish than using your finger!

Micellar water + cotton pads

Even when you’re sat in an office, your skin will be absorbing all sort of nasty particles, so, if you’re not wearing a full-face of make-up, we suggest picking up a small bottle of micellar water and some cotton pads so you can cleanse your face throughout the day. This will prevent your pores clogging up and help to reduce any chances of blemishes. If you do wear make-up to work but you need to reapply, micellar water is a great alternative to face-wipes and it’s much kinder to your skin!

Dry shampoo

If there’s one thing that you should always have available during the work day, it’s some dry shampoo. Whether you want to give your hair a little extra volume, or you just didn’t have time to wash your hair in the morning, dry shampoo is your barnets best friend!

Deodorant

Everyone needs a mini deodorant at their desk – you never know when you might get stressed or the office air con doesn’t work enough!

Perfume

If you’re looking for a little more than the smell of your deodorant, we suggest keeping a small amount of perfume in the office. Either pick up a travel size of your favourite scent, or purchase an atomizer which allows you to decant your perfume into a small holder – the perfect travel companion.
