Three ways to wear your all-weather hero this spring
A foolproof winter layering piece, but lightweight enough that you can shove it in your backpack when the really warm weather arrives – the denim jacket is a forever essential. SS17 has blessed us with a new variety of washes, cuts and embellished details, so refreshing the style for the new season is simple. Here’s three new ways to work your favourite jacket this summer.
Forget JT and Britney’s double-denim disaster of 2001, the Canadian Tuxedo – as repped by Jaden Smith, Ryan Gosling and Kanye – is actually super chill. Keep a shade between your jeans and jacket for an undone look, and pair with a classic white or graphic tee. For a more uniform tux stick with a darker wash and keep the shades matchy-matchy, you’ll look excellent, especially if you top things off with a dark navy beanie. Heatstroke be damned.
Layers on layers
This one’s a no-brainer. Every stylish man worth his salt knows that throwing a lightweight denim jacket over a hoodie over a shirt, or a shirt over a t-shirt, or a t-shirt over a roll neck – you get the idea – with jeans, chinos or even joggers can immediately pull a look together. Just roll up the sleeves when it gets hot. Us? We’re keeping it seasonally fresh this spring and pairing a mid-wash blue denim topper with minty-green hoodies and pink graphic tees.
Our favourite new styling trick is to wear our denim underneath a longline coat – or lately, a rain mac. Button it up as you would do a shirt, and leave a slither of t-shirt peeking out from your collar and cuffs for extra layering points.
