Whether you’re heading to a hip club, fancy dinner or best friend’s house party, we’ve got all the makeup ideas you need to look incredible this New Year’s Eve
So, you have your outfit sorted for New Year’s Eve, now let’s turn to your make up. For this occasion you get to go as out there as you want, but how about applying your makeup according to what you’re doing? We’ve got makeup ideas and application tips that’ll have you looking the belle of the ball as you enter 2017.
Dinner date night
If you’re heading out for a romantic meal with your significant other this New Year, then we suggest perfecting a smokey eye. You need a good base eyeshadow, a matte shade that is close to your skin tone, which you’ll apply all over the lid. Then in the outer corner of your lid pack on a black eyeshadow – gently blend some towards the centre of your eyelid to soften the finish. Then use a brush to lightly blend out the eyeshadow in the corner so you don’t end up with any harsh lines and pull some of the shadow down along your water line for a true smoked-out finish. Add a bold swipe of mascara and finish your makeup how you normally would to wow your SO for 2017.
Hip club night
When it comes to a big club night, glitter is your best friend along with a chic highlighter to make sure you stand out in the crowds. For a truly sparkly finish you’ll want to pick up a pigment eyeshadow as it results in a stronger colour payoff. After applying your base shadows, normally matte colours that don’t stray too far from your skin tone, lightly dampen your chosen brush, pick up some product and then gently pat it onto your lid. The dampened brush helps to make the pigment stick while also producing a stronger colour. Be sure to apply your favourite highlighter to your cheekbones for an illuminated look and finish the whole look off with a bold red liquid lipstick.
House party night
If you’re heading off to a more low key house party for NYE you don’t have to stray too far from your usual makeup look. We recommend keeping your eyeshadow simple this time and maybe try a cat eye flick with a strong liquid liner. It allows for a reasonably dramatic finish without all the effort! Apply your favourite bronzer to your cheekbones, temples and jaw line to sculpt out your features before lightly highlighting your cheekbones, cupid bow and tip of your nose. To add a little exuberance to the look, we suggest picking a bold lip colour, whether a strong fuchsia (on of SS17’s must-have shades) or a dark plum so that you don’t end up with a bland finish. Complete your look with a slick hair look and you’ll be ready to party the night away.
